Kerby Jean-Raymond (Founder & Creative Director @pyermoss ) will officially be the first Black American Designer at Paris Haute Couture Week this July 2021.
Haute couture translate in French to “high dressmaking” it is regarded as the highest form of high fashion. The concept is for designers to create one-of-a-kind custom garments with the lead designer and a team of highly skilled artisans and seamstresses.
To officially carry a Haute Couture collection, and be a member of the Chambre Syndicale, designers must show a collection with at a minimum 25 original custom designs twice a year at Paris Couture Week.
It is the designers responsibility to employ an atelier with 20 full-time staff members to complete the collections.
Famous faces have worn his designs including US Vice President @vp Kamala Harris during the 2021 inauguration; @zendaya @kaepernick7 @angelamanueldavis and more.
Paris Couture Week will take place July 5-8th, the exact date of @pyermoss haute couture collection will be announced in early June.
I have over 10 years of experience in the retail industry including expertise in marketing, operations, merchandising, buying, shopping and technology. I am a former senior managing director of The School of Retailing, University of Alberta. My education includes a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from The University of Alberta in Marketing, Certificate in Real Estate and a Diploma in Fashion Merchandising and Buying from LasSalle College, a Canadian private school founded in 1959 by fashion designer Jean-Paul Morin.
