Reformation Lands in Le Marais With a Paris Flagship That Balances L.A. Roots and Parisian Refinement

Reformation is deepening its European footprint with the opening of its first Paris flagship in Le Marais, a launch that CEO Hali Borenstein describes as a major milestone in the brand’s global retail expansion and a test of how an L.A. label can speak fluently to Parisian taste. Located at 20 Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, opposite the Courrèges boutique, the store is Reformation’s first location in France and on mainland Europe.

Ref Le Marais: first French flagship

The Marais flagship opened on a Thursday in early November, in one of Paris’s densest fashion districts and a frequent launchpad for international brands entering the French market. The two level boutique occupies a historic building on Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, a street known for its mix of heritage façades and contemporary fashion tenants.

This Paris opening follows years of international build out, including Reformation’s first European store in London’s Notting Hill in 2019 and additional UK locations, as well as Canadian flagships like Toronto Yorkville. By late 2025, the brand expected to operate around 63–65 boutiques across the U.S., UK, Canada and now France.

“Put your best foot forward” in Paris

Speaking to WWD, CEO Hali Borenstein framed the Paris launch as a moment to be especially intentional.

“When you enter a new market, it’s really making sure you put your best foot forward. In Paris in particular, there’s much more of an appreciation for aesthetics and trying to position yourself the right way. We are an L.A.-based brand, and we want to make sure that’s clear, but we also do want to make sure we tailor the brand for what’s right for that consumer.”

Under her leadership, Reformation has been moving from cult sustainability pioneer to fully fledged global fashion brand, and the Paris flagship is cited as a new era of retail for the company.

A warmer, Paris-tailored retail concept

Coverage of the flagship notes that Reformation has adapted its store design for Paris, keeping core signatures while tuning the mood for a more aesthetics obsessed clientele. The space is described as having:

  • warmer, elevated aestheticcompared with some earlier Ref stores, with softer tones and more layered materials.
  • Locally sourced furnitureand decor choices that anchor the concept in Paris rather than simply transplanting an American template.
  • A layout that balances minimalism with intimacy, consistent with Reformation’s emphasis on curated racks, tech enabled fitting rooms and sustainability storytelling.

The brand’s sustainability messages from lower impact materials to supply chain transparency are woven into the environment, but the overall feel is meant to stand up on style and atmosphere first, then values, for a demanding Marais shopper.

Tailoring the offer to the Parisian client

Reformation has also fine tuned its assortment for the Paris flagship. Fashion trade reporting highlights edits that skew toward Paris friendly silhouettes: sharp tailoring, elevated day dresses, polished outerwear and going out pieces that match how local customers actually dress. The idea is to keep the brand’s L.A. ease while dialing in a more refined, city friendly attitude.

The store launches as Reformation accelerates global category and channel growth from swim relaunches with bio based fabrics to wholesale collaborations but physical boutiques remain crucial for experiencing fabrics, fit and the tech driven fitting room concept. Paris offers a high visibility stage to prove that model outside English speaking markets.

Next stop: Passy and beyond

The Le Marais flagship is just the beginning of Reformation’s French story. The company has already confirmed plans to open a second Parisian boutique at 14 Rue de Passy (16th arrondissement) in 2026, bringing the brand to the city’s more residential, upscale west side.

More broadly, Reformation intends to maintain an opening rhythm of 15–20 new locations per year, with Europe as a key growth region alongside ongoing North American expansion. The Paris flagship is both a brand statement and a test case: if Reformation can feel at home in Le Marais while still feeling distinctly L.A., it strengthens its claim as a global player in sustainable, fashion forward womenswear.
