Kourtney Kardashian Barker’s Lemme supplement empire is under legal scrutiny, as allegations of deceptive advertising spark a class action investigation by a national litigation firm.

Lemme Faces Class Action Over Deceptive Marketing

The popular wellness brand Lemme, founded by reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian Barker, is now the subject of a class action lawsuit investigation. The law firm Zimmerman Reed is probing claims that Lemme “violated consumers’ rights by misleadingly and deceptively marketing its products,” according to a recent announcement.

The investigation specifically targets several Lemme products:

  • Lemme Purr Gummies: Advertised to boost vaginal health and “support vaginal odor”
  • Lemme Curb Capsules: Promoted to support healthy blood sugar
  • Lemme Debloat Gummies: Marketed to relieve bloating symptoms
  • Lemme Matcha Gummies: Claimed to support “cellular energy and energy metabolism”

Zimmerman Reed is asking Lemme customers if they “expected the products to work as advertised” upon purchasing any of these items. “If you purchased a Lemme product, you may be entitled to compensation,” the firm’s free case review form states.

Health Experts and Customer Skepticism

Lemme, which launched in September 2022 with a range of vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO gummy supplements, has previously drawn criticism from health professionals. The introduction of Lemme Purr, a vaginal probiotic gummy, in February 2023, was especially controversial. According to the Lemme website, Lemme Purr features “clinically-studied SNZ 1969 probiotics” to “target vaginal microbiome health and pH levels to support freshness and odor,” along with Vitamin C and pineapple extract.

Despite selling out in its first week, some customers and gynecologists raised concerns. Dr. Melanie Bone, OBGYN and member of Daye’s medical board, told The Independent:

“Brands should not try to advance artificial insecurities forced upon women and AFAB [assigned female at birth] individuals. There is no validated clinical data that suggests you can, or should, alter the way your vagina tastes.”

Dr. Bone also noted that while probiotics can support vaginal microbiome health, ingredients like pineapple extract “are less credible.”

Product Claims Under the Microscope

The case review form references a 2023 Women’s Health Magazine report, which found that Lemme Debloat gummies contain three grams of sugar per serving, potentially counteracting their claimed bloating relief. Additionally, Lemme Matcha supplements contain just 100 mg of matcha per serving, far below the estimated 2,000 mg found in a single teaspoon of matcha, which is considered necessary for a noticeable energy boost.

Future Outlook

The outcome of this investigation could have significant implications for the supplement industry, particularly as celebrity-backed wellness brands continue to proliferate. For now, Lemme has not publicly commented on the lawsuit or investigation. The Independent has reached out to Lemme for comment.
