The Italian luxury fashion house Moncler Group has reported a significant surge in its revenues. The group's global revenue for 2022 exceeded an impressive 2.6 billion euros, marking an increase of more than 500 million euros from the previous year. This represents a substantial 24 percent increase compared to the same period in 2022. Moncler, renowned for its ready-to-wear outerwear, and Stone Island, a luxury sportswear brand acquired by Moncler in December 2020, have both contributed significantly to this financial success.
In 2022, Moncler and Stone Island achieved record revenues of 2.2 billion and 400 million euros respectively, demonstrating solid growth across all geographies. The first quarter of 2023 continued to show promising results for Moncler. The group's revenues rose by 23 percent year-on-year to €726.4 million, surpassing analyst expectations.
Moncler's sales reached €604.8 million, up 28 percent year-on-year, while Stone Island saw a 4 percent increase with revenues of €121.6 million. Geographically, Asia and Europe have been key drivers of Moncler's sales. In 2022, 43 percent of the company’s revenue originated from Asia, making it the main source of revenue for Moncler. The EMEA region accounted for 36.5 percent of the company’s revenue.
In the first quarter of 2023, revenues in the EMEA region rose by 29 percent, driven by both local demand and tourist purchases, especially from Americans and Koreans. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, Moncler has managed to maintain a strong connection with consumers and execute its strategy effectively. The group's Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) revenues fared particularly well, up 33 percent year-on-year.
Looking ahead, Moncler remains optimistic about its future prospects. Despite the complex macroeconomic environment and continued uncertainty, the group is confident in its flexible and reactive organization and clear strategic vision. As Moncler continues to strengthen its brands and inspire new communities, the luxury fashion house is set to soar beyond fashion and luxury.
