Surrounded by lush gardens and fragrant flowers, the chateau played a significant role in the creation of the iconic Miss Dior perfume, which was inspired by the designer's love for the region and its enchanting evenings.
On October 15, 2021, Parfums Christian Dior celebrated the passion that the founder had for art and women with a new Miss Dior exhibition at the Château de la Colle Noire. Twelve internationally-renowned female artists were invited to offer their personal and contemporary interpretations of the mythic Miss Dior perfume bottle. The exhibition showcased the works of Ingrid Donat, Sabine Marcelis, Hua Wang, Mimosa Echard, Bianca Beck, Marcella Barceló, Pia Maria Raeder, Morgane Tschiember, Bethan Laura Wood, Anya Kielar, Daishi Luo, and Haruka Kojin.
The Château de la Colle Noire, which translates to "The Black Hill" in English, is situated at the entrance of the Pays of Fayence, on the border of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var region. The property overlooks the plains of Montauroux and has been owned by Parfums Christian Dior since 2013. After an extensive restoration that began in 2015, the chateau was inaugurated by Parfums Christian Dior on May 9, 2016, in the presence of Charlize Theron.
The estate's park is home to the cultivation of flowers that have inspired Christian Dior fragrances, including the May Rose flower, which is used in the creation of La Colle Noire perfume. The chateau's gardens are adorned with a thousand jasmine and may rose flowers, which played a significant role in the development of the Miss Dior perfume. The fragrance, an ode to love and beauty, embodies the designer's vision of femininity and sensuality.
