Skincare brand BYOMA has launched its Ultralight Face Fluid SPF50, a groundbreaking sunscreen designed to merge high-performance sun protection with advanced barrier repair technology. The product, now available at Target and Ulta for $18.99–$19.99, builds on BYOMA’s mission to democratize science-backed skincare while addressing the growing demand for multifunctional, non-greasy sun care solutions.

Innovative Formula with Cera-Sun Technology

The Ultralight Face Fluid SPF50 features BYOMA’s proprietary Cera-Sun Technology, which combines ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids to reinforce the skin barrier while protecting against UV damage. The formula is enriched with:

  • Hyaluronic Acid: Delivers 76% instant hydration, according to clinical trials.
  • Astaxanthin: Provides antioxidant protection 6,000x stronger than vitamin C to combat free radicals.
  • Ceramide NP: Strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier, reducing sensitivity and redness caused by sun exposure.

Unlike traditional sunscreens, the fluid leaves no white cast and is free from alcohol, fragrance, and silicones. It is dermatologist-tested, non-comedogenic, and certified vegan and cruelty-free.

Clinically Proven Results

Clinical studies highlight the product’s efficacy:

  • 76% increase in hydration immediately after application1.
  • 27% improvement in skin barrier strength within 12 hours.
  • Reduces pigmentation and sensitivity while defending against UVA/UVB rays.

“This isn’t just sunscreen—it’s a barrier repair treatment with SPF,” said Marc Elrick, BYOMA’s founder. “We’re redefining sun care by addressing both protection and long-term skin health”.

Market Context: The Rise of Barrier-Centric Skincare

BYOMA’s launch taps into the booming $3.4 billion skincare market, where barrier repair has surged in popularity. Overuse of exfoliants and harsh actives, exacerbated by social media trends, has left 68% of consumers reporting compromised skin barriers.  Since its 2022 debut, BYOMA has become one of the fastest-growing skincare brands globally, educating over 82 million consumers on barrier health.

Competitors like The Ordinary and The Inkey List have expanded their barrier-focused lines, but BYOMA distinguishes itself with specialized innovations like its Phytomucin Glow Serum—a vegan alternative to snail mucin launched earlier this year.

The Ultralight Face Fluid SPF50 is available at Target and Ulta, with plans to expand to international markets in 2025. The product joins BYOMA’s existing SPF30 variant, which saw a 200% sales increase in 2024 due to its lightweight texture and TikTok virality.

Looking Ahead

BYOMA aims to release a tinted version of the SPF50 fluid by summer 2025, responding to consumer demand for inclusive shade ranges. The brand also plans educational campaigns to combat “SPF avoidance,” particularly among Gen Z, 40% of whom skip sunscreen due to texture concerns.
