Alta, the New York-based startup founded by Jenny Wang has raised $11 million to expand its AI-powered personal styling and shopping platform. The funding round, led by Menlo Ventures, attracted a star-studded roster of backers that includes Aglaé Ventures (supported by the Arnaults of LVMH), BenchstrengthConvictionPhenomenal Ventures, high-profile AI investors, and celebrity stylists such as Meredith Koop. Notably, Menlo’s Amy Wu will join Alta’s board to help guide the company’s rapid growth.

Alta’s core product is an AI stylist and personal shopper described as “straight out of the movie Clueless.” The technology enables users to receive tailored outfit recommendations based on their wardrobe, upcoming events, lifestyle, weather, and budget.

Users can upload their closets by photographing existing items, forwarding digital receipts, or searching Alta’s growing fashion database. With a customizable virtual avatar, shoppers can try on and mix potential purchases with what they already own—blurring the line between physical and digital fashion.

Founder Jenny Wang, a Harvard-trained engineer and veteran technologist, says Alta’s mission is to “help everyone look and feel their best” by making cutting-edge AI accessible to everyday style decisions. “The experiences that consumers will desire and utilize in the future will require new technical frameworks and user interfaces,” Wang explained, pointing to her vision of a seamless digital shopping and styling assistant.

Beyond product innovation, Alta has announced a partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) to highlight and collaborate with emerging designers. The company is also eyeing international expansion and has begun outreach to major retailers and fashion organizations globally.

“For years, personalized styling was a luxury reserved for the rarest occasions. Alta is breaking that mold with AI models that can decode fashion and understand personal taste at scale,” said Amy Wu, Partner at Menlo Ventures. “We were looking to work with a founder who could bridge deep technical expertise with an intuitive grasp of fashion and consumer behavior. Jenny Wang is exactly that. We’re thrilled to back her and join Alta’s journey to reimagine how people shop and dress.”According to the company, the new funds will be used to accelerate product development, expand engineering and R&D, and deepen partnerships within the fashion ecosystem. With a $185 billion U.S. apparel e-commerce market hungry for personalization, Alta’s AI-native approach is set to reshape how consumers discover, select, and shop for clothing.

Alta’s entrance signals growing investor confidence in AI-powered consumer technology and positions the startup as a leader in shaping the future of fashion through intelligent, personalized experiences.
