What Is Garmentory?

Founded in 2013 by tech veteran Sunil Gowda and boutique fashion entrepreneur Adele Tetangco, Garmentory is far more than your typical online shopping destination. The platform serves as a carefully curated marketplace that connects over 400 independent designers and boutiques globally with fashion-conscious consumers who crave something truly unique.

Sunil Gowda, CEO, said: “Garmentory aims to bring the curated selection and personal experience of brick-and-mortar boutique shopping to the world of e-commerce and help boutique fashion businesses thrive in a competitive industry. In turn for the customer, Garmentory provides an opportunity to discover emerging designers, shop hard-to-find labels, and support independent boutiques — all in one place.”

What makes Garmentory distinct is its commitment to supporting small businesses. Every item on their platform comes from an independent boutique or emerging designer, meaning each purchase directly supports creative entrepreneurs worldwide. The platform currently features over 3,000 designers and hundreds of boutiques, offering customers a multitude of sustainably manufactured clothing, vintage finds, and contemporary accessories.

The Retail Media Revolution

Garmentory’s latest accomplishment reveals its agility to rapidly innovate. The company recently integrated Topsort’s BIDLESS™ RetailMedia infrastructure, transforming their platform into a sophisticated advertising ecosystem that rivals much larger competitors.

The integration addressed several key challenges Garmentory faced as it expanded its business model. With limited seller experience in retail media auction advertising and the need for a scalable solution adaptable to sellers of varying expertise, traditional implementation timelines of 2-6 months simply wouldn’t work.

Enter Topsort’s new approach. According to their own announcement, “Unlike traditional integration timelines of 2–6 months, Garmentory integrated Topsort’s platform in just one weekend with minimal resources, thanks to Topsort’s low-code solution,” the company said. This integration was overseen by a single in-house supervisor and required no additional infrastructure investment.

Empowering Independent Designers

The new retail media capabilities give Garmentory’s sellers powerful tools previously available only to massive e-commerce platforms. Through self-service sponsored listings, independent designers and boutiques can now set budgets, target specific product listings, and launch advertising campaigns independently.

Perhaps most importantly, the Topsort team said: “This feature ensures ads appear at the right place and time, while sellers only pay when a click happens, no expertise required!”

Since introducing this new capability, Garmentory has facilitated over 800 auction-based campaigns on its platform, with more than 15 sellers actively reviewing performance data weekly. This increased access to retail advertising marks a significant step forward for small fashion businesses competing in an increasingly digital marketplace.

A Platform Built on Community

At its core, this platform represents a philosophy that goes beyond just commerce. The community encourages slow fashion and supports sustainable practices, providing a thoughtful option for those seeking an alternative to fast fashion.

Leadership has emphasized how retail is evolving more rapidly than many might realize. Customers today desire an experience of discovery, personal service, and a sense of belonging that independent boutiques offer so well. They want this seamlessly, whether shopping in person or online.

With recent advances in technology, the platform continues to demonstrate that innovation and a personalized shopping experience can go hand in hand.
