Gensmo, an up-and-coming AI-powered fashion tech startup, has raised more than $60 million in angel and seed funding—marking one of the largest early-stage investments in the fashion technology sector to date. The capital infusion comes less than a year after the company’s December 2024 launch and demonstrates strong investor confidence in Gensmo’s vision to reshape how consumers discover, try on, and shop for clothing online.

Founded and led by CEO Ning Hu—a former Google Mobile Search tech lead and Alibaba VP with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from Carnegie Mellon—Gensmo’s founding team unites veterans from both the AI and fashion worlds. The company operates out of major hubs including New York, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and Seattle, aiming to remain at the forefront of both style and technology.

Gensmo’s core platform leverages proprietary AI models, computer vision, and deep learning to generate hyper-personalized style recommendations. Users can virtually try on clothing using digital avatars, mix and match looks, and receive curated suggestions—from thrifted gems to high-end designer pieces—in a seamless, app-based experience. The platform’s new “Vibe Imagine” feature lets users create dynamic fashion scenes based on moods or travel plans, making exploration immersive and uniquely tailored.

“Our goal is not to make people more productive. It’s about helping them feel good in what they wear and be more confident in their own taste,” said founder Ning Hu. With over 10 million fashion matches generated during beta testing and an index of more than 100 million products, Gensmo’s AI continuously learns from each interaction to refine and enhance every user’s style journey.

The new round of funding will accelerate product innovation, expand Gensmo’s engineering and design teams, and support growth across U.S. and global markets. Gensmo aims to partner with both large e-commerce platforms and small boutiques, unifying the digital shopping experience and setting a new standard for how AI empowers personal expression in fashion.

As investor interest in AI-driven retail surges, Gensmo stands out as a leader blending machine intelligence with the art of style—enabling users not just to follow trends, but to define their own.
