Soch, one of India’s most beloved ethnic wear brands, is taking a bold international leap by announcing plans to open new stores across Canada as part of an ambitious global expansion strategy in 2024 and 2025. Having already established its first Canadian location on North Park Drive, Brampton. Soch is setting the stage for an extended rollout of designer sarees, salwar suits, kurtas, and fusion wear for the vibrant Indian diaspora and growing multicultural communities nationwide
The Canadian Debut: Heritage Meets Modern Retail
The inaugural Soch store in Brampton brings with it a wide range of exclusive ethnic collections, from stylish designer sarees and lehengas to contemporary kurtas, kaftans, and kurta sets. According to the official company statement, the new store—situated in the heart of North Park Drive, Brampton—will officially open its doors on May 18. Thoughtfully designed, the space will showcase the brand’s newest collection, featuring an extensive selection of elegant designer ethnic wear such as sarees, salwar suits, kurtas, tunics, kurta sets, lehengas, and kaftans.
The store launch was commemorated with events and promotions highlighting Indian culture and heritage, connecting new Canadian shoppers to the Soch legacy. In-store tech features like Endless Isle and omnichannel shopping—already cornerstones of Soch’s Indian retail strategy—ensure shoppers have access to a seamless blend of physical and digital browsing, as well as a robust exclusive website for Canada.
CEO and Co-founder Vinay Chatlani said, “We have been looking at southeast Asia, North America and Canada and we saw a good location. It was a franchisee that is actually known to an Indian franchisee of ours. We’ve seen the performance of similar brands, or other brands, in this space and we just thought it was a good place to start. It was either going to be some place in New Jersey or Canada and we just found a really good spot for this store.”
Expansion Blueprint: From Canada to the Globe
Soch’s entry into Canada is just the beginning of its global ambitions. Operating over 175 stores in 68 Indian cities, Soch aims to open 4–5 stores in each international market with an immediate focus on additional Canadian sites and destinations with significant Indian-origin populations—including the USA, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Mauritius, the Middle East, and the UK.
The Competitive Advantage: Connecting Diaspora, Leading Ethnic Fashion
The decision to expand in Canada was driven by the significant Indian-origin population and a rising demand for authentic ethnic and fusion wear. Soch’s collections, known for adaptive design, affordability, and quality, offer a wide range to choose from across both traditional and contemporary aesthetics, which has long set Soch apart in the competitive Indian market.
Retail Experience: Modernization Meets Tradition
Shoppers at Soch’s Canadian stores will benefit from best-in-class technology initiatives—including the Endless Isle (a digital solution for accessing the full Soch catalogue from any location), omnichannel integration for easy order pickup and returns, and immersive in-store displays that reflect evolving style preferences. Events celebrating Indian festivals and heritage further enrich the retail experience, positioning Soch as more than just a fashion destination, but a cultural hub
Looking Ahead
Soch’s expansion is expected to transform the ethnic wear retail landscape in Canada, bringing designer ethnic wear, affordable style, and cutting-edge Indian fashion much closer to home for the diaspora and local shoppers alike. With future stores planned for additional Canadian cities and new markets around the world, Soch is poised to become a true global ambassador for Indian heritage fashion.
