Sephora, a leading beauty retailer, is set to open 250 new locations at Kohl’s stores throughout 2023. This expansion is part of a strategic partnership between the two companies, which aims to bring prestige beauty products to millions of Kohl’s customers across the country. The addition of these new locations will bring the total number of Sephora at Kohl’s stores to over 850, achieving the initial goal of the partnership.
The collaboration between Sephora and Kohl’s began in 2021, with the opening of 200 Sephora at Kohl’s stores. In 2022, an additional 400 locations were introduced, and the plan is to complete the rollout by 2023. The partnership has already proven successful, attracting new, younger, and more diverse customers to Kohl’s stores. Since the launch in August 2021, Kohl’s has acquired more than 1 million new customers through this partnership.
Each Sephora at Kohl’s store offers a fully immersive beauty experience, featuring a curated assortment of prestige makeup, skincare, hair, and fragrance brands. Customers can also enjoy personalized beauty consultations and assistance from Sephora-trained Beauty Advisors. The partnership allows Sephora to expand beyond malls and into suburban areas, while Kohl’s benefits from selling higher-end beauty products.
As the partnership continues to grow, Kohl’s and Sephora have announced plans to expand the Sephora presence to all of Kohl’s 1,100+ locations by 2025. This expansion will include the opening of 50 smaller format Sephora shops by the end of 2023. Kohl’s projects that Sephora at Kohl’s will achieve $2 billion in annual sales by 2025.
Despite the success of the partnership, Kohl’s promotions, including Kohl’s Cash and Kohl’s Card discounts, are not redeemable for Sephora purchases. However, customers can still earn Kohl’s Rewards and Sephora Beauty Insider points when purchasing Sephora products at Sephora at Kohl’s stores or on Kohls.com.
