TikTok used its U.S. Creator Summit to announce a suite of innovative, AI-powered creator tools, most notably Smart Split and AI Outline, designed to streamline short-form video production, expand monetization, and empower the next era of digital creativity. These features are hitting the platform as TikTok doubles down on its mission to help users create, discover, and connect around original content with increased speed, accessibility, and creative depth.
Making Long-Form Content “TikTok-Ready”
Smart Split is an advanced video editing tool available globally via TikTok Studio Web. It allows users to upload videos longer than one minute and—using AI—automatically clips, reframes, captions, and transcribes longer content into multiple, bite-sized short videos optimized for TikTok’s feed.
Smart Split automatically clips, reframes, captions, and transcribes longer content into multiple short videos ready for TikTok. For example, Smart Split can help creators cut their day-in-the-life vlog or a podcast episode into multiple clips.
Creators can select which segments to keep, choose a target clip length, or let the AI decide. In addition, users can adjust caption formatting and video framing for the most engaging vertical results. Importantly, Smart Split removes the friction of repurposing long-form videos, allowing podcasters, vloggers, and educators to multiply their content with just a few clicks.
The Creative Assistant for Concept-to-Camera
Announced alongside Smart Split, AI Outline is an AI-driven brainstorming and scripting tool that helps creators go from idea to upload with unprecedented ease.
AI Outline generates an outline that will break down the video into six parts… Creators can lengthen or shorten the title, refine the hook, and adjust the script idea to match their style. Once the outline is complete, creators can record the video and upload it to TikTok.
Currently, AI Outline is available to creators 18 and over in the U.S., Canada, and select regions, with further expansion coming soon. The tool’s suggestions go through safety checks for compliance with TikTok’s community guidelines.
Streamlining Monetization and Creative Success
The rollout comes as TikTok enhances its subscription and revenue-sharing models, allowing top creators to earn up to 90% of subscription revenue, a clear signal that the platform is aiming to keep its most influential talent producing regular, exclusive content. By saving creators valuable editing and brainstorming time, TikTok expects more users to develop multi-part content series, grow their audiences, and deliver fresher videos for viewers.
“At TikTok, we want to empower human creativity with AI-powered tools that make it easier to create, discover, and connect around original content,” the company said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see how these new tools inspire creators to bring even more great content to life.”
The Era of AI-Augmented Content Creation
TikTok’s move is part of a broader trend as major platforms embrace AI-driven creative tools. Twitch, YouTube, and Meta have all rolled out similar automated editing, captioning, and video segmentation tools for creators in recent months. The focus is clear: helping digital storytellers spend less time on the technical side of editing and more on crafting content with resonance and reach.
With AI now supporting both the creative and editing process, the platform is giving creators more time to focus on what truly matters, making engaging, original work that connects with their audience.
