Toshiba’s mobile-first push in retail

Based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is expanding its mobile innovation line as retailers face rising expectations around frictionless and connected shopping. By adopting next-generation mobile devices like the TCx® M7 and TCx® M11, retailers across formats can modernize their operations, boosting efficiency, accuracy, and overall customer satisfaction.

How Away is using TCx M7 and M11

At award-winning travel and lifestyle brand Away, Toshiba’s mobile devices have already reshaped how teams connect with customers and manage tasks. “At Away, our customers are at the center of everything we do, and that means delivering seamless, intuitive experiences wherever they choose to shop,” Mohan Itwaru, Senior Director of Direct to Consumer Technology at Away, said.

He added that the TCx® M7 and TCx® M11 give teams the speed, mobility, and real-time personalization modern customers expect, effectively turning any sales floor into a full checkout and service destination with built-in scanning, tap-to-pay, and simple device management.

Inside the TCx M7: design, durability, and payments

Functionally, it supports tap-to-pay NFC SoftPOS payments, an RFID grip handle, forward and rear cameras, and a 2D scanner to handle checkout, inventory, and task workflows from a single device. The unit offers drop-tested durability with a rugged IP68 design, runs on Android with GMS certification for secure app access, and is supported by a broad accessory ecosystem suited to both indoor and outdoor environments.
