A new wave of AI-powered shopping is on the horizon as Remark raises $16 million in Series A funding to make online product advice more personal and effective.
Remark’s Human-Trained AI Aims to Bridge the E-Commerce Gap
Remark, a Boston-based company specializing in AI product experts for commerce, has closed a $16 million Series A round led by Inspired Capital, with participation from Stripe, Neo, Spero Ventures, Shine Capital, and Visible Ventures. This brings the company’s total funding to $27 million.
Despite massive investments in e-commerce, the in-store expert’s ability to drive sales has never been fully replicated online. Remark addresses this by training AI personas on the expertise of over 60,000 real product specialists—including Olympic athletes, stylists, estheticians, and new parents—delivering trusted, personalized advice at scale.
Unlike generic chatbots, Remark’s AI is built on the anecdotes and personal knowledge of subject-matter experts, resulting in digital advisors that offer warm, informed guidance embedded directly in brand storefronts.
Theo Satloff, CEO and co-founder of Remark emphasized the company’s mission:
“We believe AI should elevate the human experience, not replace it,” said Satloff. “By working with real product experts to train AI personas, we’re creating guidance that’s trusted, helpful, and deeply personal. Our goal is to make online shopping feel less like a transaction and more like being guided by someone who truly understands what you need.”
Impressive Growth and Results
Since its previous funding round, Remark has:
