Global e-commerce platform Temu has taken a significant step in the fight against online counterfeiting by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC). Announced at the IACC’s 2025 Annual Conference in San Diego, this partnership marks Temu’s entry as an inaugural member of the IACC’s newly launched Marketplace Advisory Council (MAC), a cross-industry forum uniting e-commerce giants, payment providers, and iconic global brands to set new standards for intellectual property (IP) protection online.

A United Front Against Counterfeiting

The IACC Marketplace Advisory Council (MAC) brings together some of the most influential players in the digital economy. Alongside Temu, council members include Amazon, eBay, Mastercard, PayPal, Visa, and global brands like Apple, Chanel, Colgate-Palmolive, Disney, Ford, Johnson & Johnson, and Nike.

This diverse coalition is designed to foster collaboration, share insights, and coordinate strategies to address one of the most persistent challenges in e-commerce: the proliferation of counterfeit goods. The MAC represents a new era of transparency, accountability, and collaborative action, to make online marketplaces safer and more trustworthy for both consumers and brands.

“We’re pleased to welcome Temu as an inaugural member of the Marketplace Advisory Council and as a key partner in our shared fight against counterfeiting,” said Bob Barchiesi, President, International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition. “This MoU reflects a meaningful step forward in our collaboration, grounded in transparency, accountability, and a joint commitment to consumer protection.”

Temu’s Ongoing Commitment to IP Enforcement

Since launching in 2022, Temu has prioritized intellectual property enforcement and invested heavily in robust anti-counterfeiting measures, including:

These initiatives reflect Temu’s broader mission to build a trustworthy marketplace and protect both consumers and brand partners from the risks posed by counterfeit goods.

“Joining this coalition underscores Temu’s commitment to building a trustworthy online marketplace,” a Temu spokesperson stated. “We look forward to collaborating with other industry leaders to create a powerful, collective force against the sale of illegal goods online.”

Looking Forward

The partnership between Temu and the IACC comes at a time when online retail continues to surge and the threat of counterfeiting remains a global concern. Temu aims to set a new benchmark for industry-wide cooperation in IP protection—benefiting consumers, rights holders, and the broader digital economy.

As e-commerce continues to reshape retail, such collaborations are crucial in ensuring that innovation, trust, and consumer safety remain at the forefront of the online shopping experience.
