Cartier arrived in Geneva as one of the most anticipated names at Watches and Wonders 2026, the largest watchmaking gathering ever organized in the city, which opened its doors from April 12 with 65 exhibiting brands. Presenting itself as the “Watchmaker of Shapes,” the Paris based maison used the occasion to reaffirm why geometry, savoir faire, and the intersection of jewelry and watchmaking remain at the heart of everything it does.
Four Spaces, One Vision
Cartier‘s booth at Watches and Wonders 2026 was designed as an immersive journey across four themed spaces, each illuminating a different facet of the maison’s watchmaking identity. The first, Tailored Crafts Serving One Form, explored how Cartier‘s artisanal techniques are subordinated entirely to the pursuit of perfect form. The second, The Eye of the Jeweler, brought visitors into the maison’s deep rooted connection between haute joaillerie and watchmaking, where diamond setting and gem expertise inform every design decision. The third space, The Manufacture Between Innovation and Tradition, offered a window into Cartier‘s La Chaux de Fonds manufacture, while the fourth, Shaping Movement, highlighted the technical mastery behind the brand’s signature shaped movements.
The Watches: Icons Reimagined
Cartier‘s 2026 collection was a masterclass in disciplined reinvention, anchored by the return of several icons and the introduction of audacious new complications. The Roadster made a headline comeback, completely redesigned with new manufacture calibers 1847 MC and 1899 MC, refined ergonomics, a crown perfectly flush with the case, and a magnifying lens date display, reflecting a rigorous evolution rather than a nostalgic revival. The Crash Skeleton, one of the most technically demanding pieces in the collection, features a hand wound 1967 MC caliber integrating 142 components with skeletonized bridges shaped as Roman numerals, a patented construction in which each bridge is hammered by hand with finishing work requiring approximately two hours per specimen, limited to 150 numbered pieces.
Cartier Privé: A Platinum Trilogy
The tenth chapter of Cartier Privé, the maison’s dedicated collector series, brought together three iconic references in a moment of rare synthesis: the Tank Normal, the Tortue Chronograph Monopusher, and the Crash Skeleton, each executed in platinum and unified through a precise, restrained color language. The Santos Dumont also received a striking new treatment with an obsidian dial, while the asymmetric Baignoire Clou de Paris and the jewel set Myst de Cartier rounded out a collection that stretched from pure watchmaking to high jewelry timepieces featuring 100 diamonds set in snow paving on select dials.
Cartier Nocturne in the City
Beyond the salon floor, Cartier extended its Watches and Wonders presence into Geneva itself through Cartier Nocturne, a special evening event at the brand’s Geneva boutique, open exceptionally until 9:00 PM and brought to life with a vibrant musical atmosphere welcoming watch lovers and city visitors into the world of the maison after hours.
