Skims, the Los Angeles-based underwear, loungewear, and shapewear brand, has recently expanded its wholesale business by opening a dedicated shop inside Saks Fifth Avenueโs New York flagship store. The brand is now available on Saks.com as well. This partnership brings Skims further into retail, with plans to open additional doors across the U.S., including Bal Harbour, Florida; Houston, and Boston, throughout the rest of the quarter.
The dedicated fifth-floor space for Skims at Saks showcases the brandโs assortment of body-positive collections, including Fits Everybody, Seamless Sculpt, and Cotton, alongside Soft Lounge and Boyfriend styles. Skims worked closely with Willo Perron of Perron-Roettinger to design the shop, which features Skimsโ signature rounded-edged fixtures, inclusive mannequins, and a shapewear wall.
To commemorate the launch, Skims also designed a visual installation on the main floor atrium of Saks New York, with digital screens displaying a campaign of models wearing Seamless Sculpt shapewear walking across New York Cityโs bustling streets. The campaign was shot and directed by Vanessa Beecroft.
Jens Grede, CEO of Skims, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, โLaunching at Saks Fifth Avenue is an exciting move into expanding Skimsโ curated retail partnerships. Saks is an iconic fashion institution, and Iโm thrilled Skims will now be available to its customers.โ
Skims, founded in 2019 by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, has built a consumer audience both online and through a mix of upscale retail partnerships that include Nordstrom, Selfridges, SSENSE, Net-a-Porter, Lane Crawford, Holt Renfrew, David Jones, and now Saks Fifth Avenue. As part of Skimsโ strategy to increase its retail business, the company is building out its management team to oversee these partnerships, recently bringing in Moncler retail veteran Robert Norton as its chief commercial officer.
The global shapewear and compression wear market is expected to reach $6.95 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 7.7%, according to Allied Market Research. Skimsโ expansion into Saks Fifth Avenueโs New York flagship store marks a significant step in the brandโs growth and presence in the retail market.
