Starbucks and Bank of America Launch Loyalty Program

Starbucks and Bank of America have announced a partnership that allows customers to link their eligible Bank of America credit or debit cards to their Starbucks Rewards accounts. This collaboration enables members to earn 2% cash back and Bonus Stars on all purchases, further incentivizing customer participation and retention.

To qualify for these benefits, one must be a member of both the U.S. Starbucks Rewards program and a Bank of America Online Banking or Mobile Banking customer with a linked eligible car. The partnership was launched on February 15, 2024, and it offers Bank of America cardholders and Starbucks Rewards members the opportunity to earn additional rewards on top of those they already receive from their respective programs.

By linking their accounts, members can earn 1 Star per $2 spent at Starbucks, in addition to the 2% cash back provided by Bank of America. These rewards can be redeemed for various items at Starbucks, including free drinks, food, merchandise, and whole bean coffee.

The collaboration is facilitated through Bank of America's BankAmeriDeals program, which has been operational since 2012 and allows clients to earn cash back on selected deals when using an eligible Bank of America debit or credit card.

Card-linking technology plays a crucial role in this partnership, ensuring that customers automatically earn points on purchases by updating their loyalty profiles whenever they use their chosen credit or debit card.

This seamless integration between the loyalty programs of Starbucks and Bank of America exemplifies the benefits of coalition loyalty programs, which include the collection of valuable customer data across multiple businesses, leading to more personalized experiences and targeted marketing campaigns.
