CELINE has reopened the doors to its Été CELINE pop up experience in the historic Zhangyuan district of Shanghai, running from April 13 to May 10, 2026, exactly one year after the activation’s landmark debut at the same location.

The second edition deepens the concept established in 2025, bringing a new iteration of the French Riviera universe to one of Shanghai‘s most architecturally significant addresses, now with a grander seascape façade, sand dunes, beach cabanas, a surf shop, and a dedicated customization room woven through Zhangyuan‘s iconic shikumen courtyards.

A Concept Born From a New Era

The Été CELINE pop up was first introduced in April 2025 as a landmark moment for the Maison: the global debut of Creative Director Michael Rider’s first collection, following Hedi Slimane‘s tenure. Inspired by nostalgic memories of summers spent in Saint Tropez and the celebrated Place des Lices, the concept was designed as a living destination rather than a conventional retail event, a slow paced, sun soaked escape imagined in the spirit of the French Côte d’Azur

The first edition proved immediately resonant with Chinese audiences: on Weibo, the hashtag #CELINE夏日限时漫游 surpassed 46 million views within days of opening, and visitors queued to photograph, explore, and experience the space firsthand.

Inside the Second Edition

The 2026 pop up expands the immersive vocabulary of its predecessor, setting three themed zones across Zhangyuan‘s shikumen courtyards. White fabric shades inspired by seaside living soften the natural light throughout the space, while a vast seascape façade, sand dunes, and beach cabanas transport visitors to the South of France without leaving Shanghai‘s Jing’an district. A surf shop adds a new layer of playful energy to the experience, and a customization room, a first for the Été CELINE format, allows guests to personalize select pieces from the collection, adding an exclusive and personal dimension to the visit.

The space showcases the full Été CELINE collection alongside accessories and CELINE Haute Parfumerie, making it the most complete expression of the Maison‘s summer offering to date.

A Smart Play for Shanghai

Zhangyuan, located at No. 258 North Maoming Road in Shanghai‘s Jing’an district, is one of the city’s most storied cultural landmarks, a 19th century garden compound whose preserved shikumen architecture has made it a magnet for luxury brand activations seeking the intersection of heritage and modernity. CELINE‘s decision to return to the same address for a second consecutive year is itself a statement: rather than chasing novelty, the brand is building a recurring seasonal ritual in China‘s most culturally influential city.

For the 2026 edition, Zhangyuan has also introduced a “refund upon purchase” service allowing international visitors to receive departure tax refunds on the spot, a practical enhancement that reflects the district’s growing ambition as a global retail destination. Reservations are required via CELINE‘s official WeChat mini program.
