Yorkdale Shopping Centre, a premier shopping destination in Toronto, Ontario, has announced the addition of new luxury brands to its impressive roster of stores. Among the most notable brands set to open are Alexander McQueen and Celine. The mall, which opened in 1964, spans 2 million square feet and is home to 270 stores, making it one of the largest shopping centers in the world.
The shopping center has built a reputation for being Toronto’s ultimate shopping destination, boasting the country’s largest collection of designer labels and luxury brands. It is co-owned by Oxford Properties and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) and managed by Oxford Properties Group. Over the years, Yorkdale has attracted upscale stores such as Holt Renfrew, Tiffany & Co., and Burberry, which recently reopened its store with a new simple design and bright interior accented with gold.

Furthermore, several store renovations and expansions are underway, including updates to David Yurman, Cartier, and Bulgari storefronts.
Yorkdale’s success in attracting luxury brands has had an impact on Toronto’s downtown core, particularly the Bloor-Yorkville area, which has traditionally been home to the city’s luxury shopping scene.
However, some brokers believe that Yorkdale’s success may ultimately benefit the Bloor-Yorkville area, as some brands may look to open second Toronto locations after testing the market with Yorkdale stores.
