Reformation Takes Over Chicago With Their New Store

Reformation has expanded its footprint in Chicago bringing its signature sustainable, tech forward retail concept deeper into the city’s neighborhood shopping scene. The openings add to Ref’s existing presence on Walton Street and in Oakbrook Center, turning Chicago into one of the brand’s key Midwestern hubs.

Visual merchandising brings “Ref magic” to life

In the LinkedIn post, Reformation’s visual team celebrates “bringing the visual merchandising to life” for the two newest stores, underscoring how much of Ref’s identity is built through in store storytelling as much as through product.

Reformation stores typically feature:

  • Minimal, light filled interiorswith clean lines and a neutral palette that lets fabrics and cuts stand out.
  • Tech enabled fitting roomsand digital browsing tools, blending e commerce style discovery with physical try ons.
  • A strong emphasis on sustainability messaging, from RefRecycling programmes to communications about fibre choices and environmental impact.

Translating this into two very different Chicago neighborhoods residential Lake View and buzzy Fulton Market gives the visual team room to express the brand in slightly different tones while keeping the core “Ref magic” consistent.

Strengthening Reformation’s Chicago presence

With Southport and Fulton Market now online, Chicago hosts at least four Reformation locations:

  • Gold Coast / Walton Street– the original city flagship, opened in 2019.
  • Southport Corridor (3452 N Southport Ave.)– serving Lake View’s strong neighborhood retail corridor.
  • Fulton Market / Randolph Street– tapping into Chicago’s newest dining and creative district.
  • Oakbrook Center– a tech driven suburban format in Oak Brook.

This cluster allows Reformation to reach tourists and downtown shoppers, city neighborhood customers and suburban clients with tailored store experiences, all under its sustainable fashion umbrella.
