CELINE has brought the Été CELINE universe to London, taking over Selfridges’ The Corner Shop with a summer drenched pop up that feels more like a mini Saint Tropez beach club than a central Oxford Street space. Running through late June, the installation showcases the house’s warm weather capsule alongside key bags and accessories under Creative Director Michael Rider.
A Saint Tropez escape at Selfridges
For the coming weeks, the Parisian house has fully reimagined The Corner Shop Selfridges’ rotating concept space on the ground floor as “Été CELINE” (“CELINE Summer”). Wallpaper* notes that Rider builds an “idyllic warm weather wardrobe” here, blending his signature mix of American prep and Parisian insouciance.
Visitors step into a summer inspired set that multiple reports compare to a mini Saint Tropez escape in Central London, complete with sandy tones and beach club vibes. It’s designed as a one stop shop for summer, echoing last year’s Été CELINE Corner Shop take over which used the space to pre launch the collection.
What’s in the Été CELINE pop up
The Selfridges Corner Shop edit brings together a tight selection of ready to wear, leather goods and accessories:
- Summer ready pieces: slip dresses, denim shorts, striped knits, logo tees and lightweight outerwear that form an easy holiday wardrobe.
- Raffia and canvas bags: including Triomphe embellished baskets and beach friendly totes that feature heavily in social coverage of the space.
- Small leather goods, scarves and caps, many with nautical or Côte d’Azur inflected motifs drawn from the Été CELINE capsule.
The installation also nods to CELINE’s Haute Parfumerie line; in previous Été CELINE Corner Shop editions, the brand launched the “Un Été Français” fragrance, evoking New Wave era summers in the south of France with bergamot, jasmine, neroli and vanilla. While this year’s pop up focuses more on fashion and accessories, the overall olfactory and visual mood remains in that sun baked, Riviera register.
Extending Michael Rider’s CELINE universe
For Michael Rider, who has been steadily imprinting his vision on CELINE with a blend of sharp tailoring, youth culture references and American East Coast polish, the Été CELINE pop up is a chance to show a lighter, more playful side of the brand. Wallpaper* describes the capsule as part of “his design vernacular,” marrying prep codes (caps, polos, stripes) with Parisian ease (slip dresses, lean denim, minimal sandals) in a way that feels both nostalgic and current.
By staging this universe in Selfridges’ most visible experimental space, CELINE taps into London’s global mix of locals and tourists, using the Corner Shop to:
- Test how Rider’s summer languagelands with a broad audience.
- Create a seasonal momentthat can be amplified across social and press.
- Offer a concentrated editfor clients who want to shop an entire warm weather look in one go.
Corner Shop as luxury playground
Selfridges’ Corner Shop has become a high profile playground for luxury brands, rotating through concepts that often feel closer to installations than standard pop ups. With Été CELINE, the department store continues that strategy, giving the house a front of store billboard in 3D, right off Oxford Street.
For CELINE and LVMH, the project shows how seasonal capsules, immersive retail and art direction can come together to keep a heritage maison feeling fresh and timely without diluting its core codes. For shoppers, it’s a simple proposition: for a few weeks, if you want to feel like you’re dressing for the south of France while standing in W1A, you start at The Corner Shop.
Pop up details: Été CELINE at The Selfridges Corner Shop, 400 Oxford Street, London W1A 1AB, open daily in line with Selfridges store hours, running until late June 2026.
