The Estée Lauder Companies is doubling down on UK production, using the 60th anniversary of its Whitman facility in Petersfield, England to unveil a strategic investment that will make the country its primary global hub for luxury candles while reinforcing its role in prestige fragrance manufacturing. The move strengthens a site that already produces more than 90 million units of skin care and fragrance annually for brands including Jo Malone London, Estée Lauder, Clinique and La Mer.

Opened in 1966, the Whitman manufacturing facility has grown into a strategic node in The Estée Lauder Companies’ global network, supplying the UK, Europe and select international markets. Lauder, Chair of the Board of Directors, said, noting that his family chose the UK in 1966 for its “remarkable depth of British artisanal skill.” Today’s investment is positioned as the next chapter in that legacy, keeping production anchored in Petersfield while the company’s brands expand globally.
Bringing Contract Candles into the fold As part of the new strategy, The Estée Lauder Companies will integrate select luxury candle and home fragrance capabilities from long-standing partner Contract Candles, a UK based specialist in high end candles and scent diffusers.
The group will assume the lease of one of Contract Candles’ two UK facilities, located close to Whitman, and will welcome approximately 50 employees into the organization over time, while also adding new research, development and quality capabilities…
