Over 26 million online retailers across the entire globe

The e-commerce sector has experienced remarkable growth, with the total number of online stores worldwide surpassing the 26.5 million mark. This represents a significant surge from the 9.2 million recorded in 2019. The United States has been a key player in this arena, accounting for nearly 53% of the global total with around 14 million e-commerce sites.

The upward trajectory of e-commerce is also evident in the sales data. For instance, e-commerce sales in the U.S. climbed to approximately $1.119 trillion in 2023, which was an increase from $1.040 trillion the year prior, reflecting a growth rate of about 7.6%.

Online shopping continues to claim a larger share of the retail market, with an estimated 20.8% of retail purchases conducted online in 2023, and projections indicating this figure may rise to 24% by 2026.

On a global scale, e-commerce sales hit an estimated 5.8 trillion U.S. dollars in 2023, with forecasts suggesting that this could exceed eight trillion dollars by the year 2027. With these numbers, it's clear that the future of e-commerce looks particularly strong, offering abundant opportunities for businesses looking to engage with the growing trend of consumers shopping online.
