Purpose

Authoritative reporting for the retail industry.

RetailBoss examines the decisions, transactions, leadership changes and consumer shifts that shape modern commerce. Our reporting establishes what happened, identifies the source of the information and explains the consequence for retailers, brands, investors and operators.

The newsroom selects and edits independent coverage on editorial merit. Advertisers, sponsors, affiliate partners and commercial clients do not approve or alter newsroom conclusions.

Reporting practice

Verification, sourcing and attribution.

Verify before publicationWriters and editors confirm material facts through primary documents, direct sources, official records or multiple credible sources when the reporting requires it.
Name and link sourcesRetailBoss identifies the origin of reported facts, quotations, data and outside analysis when the material is available for readers to inspect.
Treat announcements as source materialPress releases, company statements and official announcements are starting points. RetailBoss edits and contextualizes that material and identifies the underlying source.
Protect quotation integrityQuotes must reflect what a source said. Material edits must not change meaning, and invented or composite quotations are not permitted.
Use anonymous sources sparinglyWhen anonymity is necessary, an editor must know the source’s identity, understand the reason for anonymity and determine how the information was corroborated.

Independence

Commercial relationships must be visible.

Sponsored, partner funded and other paid material must carry a clear label and must not be presented as independent newsroom reporting. Affiliate relationships may generate revenue when a reader makes a qualifying purchase, but they do not guarantee favorable coverage.

Writers and editors must disclose material financial, employment, family or business relationships that could affect, or reasonably appear to affect, their work. Gifts, samples, travel support and event access do not purchase coverage and are disclosed when relevant to a reader’s assessment of the article.

Originality and tools

Human editorial responsibility remains central.

Original workRetailBoss does not permit plagiarism. Reporting, analysis and synthesis must contribute original editorial value and credit material drawn from other publishers.
Artificial intelligence toolsTechnology may support research organization, transcription, editing, data processing, image formatting and production. It does not replace editorial judgment. A human editor remains responsible for published facts, sourcing, quotations and corrections.
Images and mediaVisuals should be owned, licensed, supplied for editorial use, embedded under platform terms or otherwise used with an appropriate legal basis and source credit.

Accountability

Bylines, updates and corrections.

Articles carry a clear byline and publication date. Author links lead to profiles or reporting archives that identify the journalist. RetailBoss handles substantive factual errors under its Corrections Policy and updates developing stories when new verified information becomes available.
