Our commitment

A clear record of material corrections.

When RetailBoss confirms that published information is materially inaccurate, the newsroom corrects it as promptly as reasonably possible. Correction requests are reviewed within two business days. Resolution time depends on the evidence, the sources involved and the complexity of the issue.

The Editor in Chief or a delegated editor determines whether a change is a correction, clarification, routine update or minor edit.

How changes are handled

Corrections, clarifications and updates serve different purposes.

CorrectionFixes a material factual error. A correction note should explain what was wrong and what was changed, with the date of the correction.
ClarificationAdds context or more precise wording when the original statement was not necessarily false but could reasonably be misunderstood.
UpdateAdds newly verified information to a developing story. RetailBoss identifies substantive updates when they materially change a reader’s understanding.
Minor editCorrects spelling, grammar, formatting or a broken link without changing the substance. Minor edits may be made without a correction note.

Submit a request

Give the newsroom enough information to verify the issue.

Include the article URL, the exact sentence or claim at issue, the reason it is inaccurate, the correct information and primary or authoritative supporting sources. Identify your relationship to the subject and provide reliable contact information.

RetailBoss considers evidence from subjects, readers and independent sources. A request does not guarantee a change, but every credible submission is evaluated on its merits.

Removal requests

Published history is preserved except in exceptional circumstances.

RetailBoss generally does not remove accurate, lawfully published material solely because it has become inconvenient or because a subject disagrees with its inclusion. The newsroom may consider removal, search exclusion or anonymization when compelling legal, privacy, safety or public interest concerns outweigh the value of preserving the original record.
