Showroom

RETAILBOSS ReferenceUpdated November 2, 2026

A showroom is a space used to display products for customer selection, appointments or trade buying, which may operate separately from inventory fulfilment.

How it works in retail

Some showrooms serve retail customers, while others serve wholesale buyers. Orders can be taken from samples and fulfilled later from another location.

A retail example

A brand presents its seasonal collection to boutique buyers in a showroom, where they review samples and place wholesale orders.

What to keep in mind

Showroom does not always mean an immediate-purchase retail store. Clarify whether visitors can buy on the spot, place orders or attend by appointment only.

Examples are illustrative. Terminology and measurement conventions can vary by business and market.
