Burberry is spotlighting a new capsule, The Quentin Blake Capsule, bringing previously unreleased illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake onto signature trench coats, ready-to-wear, and accessories in a bold, collectible drop aligned with the opening of the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration in London.
Burberry x Sir Quentin Blake: A New CapsuleBurberry has partnered with celebrated British illustrator Sir Quentin Blake on a capsule collection that channels his “distinctly British sense of imagination” into womenswear, menswear and childrenswear. The collaboration translates his unmistakable line drawings and playful storytelling into fashion, echoing the campaign message “Drawn to it” and spotlighted across Burberry’s Summer 2026 imagery.
At the heart of the collection are bold, hand drawn motifs featuring feather prints taken from an original 1971 pen-and-ink illustration for an English-language edition of The Birds by Aristophanes, alongside a new series of previously unreleased drawings of playful figures interacting with nature. These artworks are exclusive to the capsule, making it especially appealing for collectors of both fashion and illustration.
Key Pieces and Design Details
Trench coats remain the heroes of the capsule, cut from shower resistant tropical gabardine, the lightest of Burberry’s signature fabrics, and reimagined as canvases for Blake’s art. The fit and flare Pembury trench is lined in printed silk, while the neat, narrow Foxfield trench showcases a tactile embroidered feather design, each finished with the Burberry Knight label signed by Sir Quentin Blake inside.
Beyond outerwear, printed silk runs through the collection in fluid separates, ruffled dresses, scarves and panelled knitted T shirts that showcase the illustrations in motion. Capsule motifs also appear on soft cotton jersey T shirts, tops and sweaters, as well as embroidered cotton twill baseball caps and brushed Scottish-woven cashmere scarves, designed to add a “touch of magic” to everyday dressing.
Celebrating a British Cultural Icon
Sir Quentin Blake has been a central figure in British illustration and children’s literature for almost 70 years, best known for his long-running collaboration with author Roald Dahl. He served as the inaugural British Children’s Laureate from 1999 to 2001, was awarded a CBE in 2005, received a knighthood in 2013, and in 2022 was appointed a Companion of Honour by Queen Elizabeth II for services to illustration.
Speaking about the collaboration, Burberry Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee said, “Sir Quentin Blake’s illustrations capture a sense of childhood magic. They have a very British style, and we wanted to bring his amazing creations into the world of Burberry,” said. This perspective frames the capsule as a meeting point between heritage outerwear and the kind of imaginative narrative that has shaped generations of British readers.
