Christian Dior’s Trademark Lawsuit Against Springfield’s Café Dior

Fashion giant Christian Dior has launched a lawsuit against Café Dior, a chic eatery on Main Street in Springfield. This lawsuit, filed in the Massachusetts District Court on April 9, 2024, accuses the local café of trademark infringement, citing illegal use of the “Dior” name and associated logos.

Café Dior seemed promising as the eatery opened its doors in October 18th, 2023. The grand opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Springfield’s Mayor Domenic Sarno.

However, the luxury fashion house Christian Dior, founded in 1946 by the illustrious designer Christian Dior, has taken issue with the name and branding of the café.

According to the lawsuit, the café did not have permission to use the prestigious Dior name, nor its distinctive logo prominently featured in the café’s marketing materials.
