Tom Beckbe Takes Minority Investment From Cox Outdoors to Support Retail Growth

The Birmingham-based outdoor apparel company will remain independently run by founders Radcliff and Mary Menge, with its existing team. The agreement therefore adds a financial partner without an announced transfer of operating control.

“Our new partnership with Cox will allow us to double down on those core values,” said Radcliff Menge, co-founder of Tom Beckbe. Founded in 2015, the brand sells online and through its own stores and retail partners. Its newest location is due to open in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighbourhood this September.

Cox Outdoors is a new division of Cox Enterprises focused on outdoor consumer brands. The release links the investment to expansion but does not specify a future store count, spending programme or ownership percentage.
