Founding and Name Origin: Zara was founded in 1975 by Amancio Ortega and Rosalía Mera in downtown Galicia, Spain. “Zara” was chosen after Ortega’s preferred name, “Zorba,” had already been taken.

Global Presence: As of January 2023, Zara operates nearly 3,000 stores across 96 countries, making it one of the most globally recognized fashion brands.

Fast Fashion Pioneer: Zara revolutionized the fashion industry with its fast fashion model, which involves designing, producing, and distributing new collections every two weeks. This allows Zara to quickly respond to changing fashion trends.
