Hermès has reopened its relocated, redesigned store at Westfield UTC mall in San Diego, California, unveiling a bright, geometric space that showcases the house’s sixteen métiers and reflects a relaxed Californian way of life.
Relocated and redesigned San Diego store
Originally opened in 2008, the Hermès San Diego boutique has been relocated within Westfield UTC and reopened on 16 July 2026 with an expanded, refreshed layout. The redesigned store presents the full breadth of the house’s sixteen métiers, from silk, leather goods and ready to wear to equestrian, jewellery, watches, home objects and fragrances, in a more open, luminous environment.
Situated in the open air, 1.2 million sq ft Westfield UTC centre in San Diego’s University City neighbourhood, the new boutique strengthens Hermès’ West Coast footprint alongside other California locations such as Topanga, Beverly Hills, South Coast Plaza, San Francisco and Palo Alto.
Terracotta façade and geometric interiors

architecture, designed by Paris-based firm RDAI, is inspired by geometric forms and vibrant colours, creating a strong exterior presence and a layered interior journey. The façade is clad in terracotta toned ceramic bricks, which reference sun baked Californian architecture and give the storefront a tactile, sculptural quality.
Inside, the design plays with colours, textures and geometric shapes: Warm stone floors and pale woods set a calm foundation for the collections. Coloured accent walls, patterned carpets and graphic screens subtly echo modernist West Coast architecture and coastal light.
Carefully framed views guide visitors from accessories and silk at the entrance through to ready to wear salons and leather spaces, highlighting each métier as its own “universe”. Together, these elements create an atmosphere that is bright, welcoming and contemporary, while still unmistakably Hermès.
