BIRKENSTOCK has officially landed in Osaka. The German footwear brand opened its first ever concept store in Japan‘s second largest city on April 3, 2026, located at 2 8 28 Shinsaibashisuji, Chuo-ku, Osaka, in the heart of the city’s most active shopping corridor.
The 12th Store in Japan
The Shinsaibashi opening marks BIRKENSTOCK‘s 12th permanent, directly operated store in Japan, following the Ikebukuro store that opened in February 2026 as the brand’s fourth location in Tokyo. It is also the fourth BIRKENSTOCK concept store in Japan, following earlier openings in Harajuku, Shinjuku, and Nagoya, and stands as one of the largest street level retail spaces the brand operates anywhere in the country. Japan remains BIRKENSTOCK‘s largest market in Asia, making the Osaka opening a strategically meaningful milestone in the brand’s continued push to deepen its direct to consumer presence across the country.

A predominantly white color palette is complemented by traditionally crafted earthen walls, while signature brand elements, including cork and the brand’s distinct bone pattern, are carefully integrated throughout the interior design.
The first floor features a dedicated Care Essentials area where customers can explore BIRKENSTOCK‘s foot and body care range firsthand, while the second floor carries the brand’s full product offer: from the iconic core collection of sandals, clogs, shoes, and boots to the premium 1774 line developed for the fashion and luxury consumer.
