Prada Linea Rossa Develops Bespoke Footwear for Diego Poncelet’s Skateboard Speed Record

According to Prada’s account, the two-time downhill world champion reached the speed on a closed section of Route des Éboulements in the Charlevoix region. The company describes the result as the fastest skateboard speed recorded.

A Product-Development Role The footwear was handcrafted with a sticky rubber compound and herringbone traction pattern intended to improve contact and control on the board. Prada says the shoes and gloves combined performance materials with protection, comfort and grip.

The broader project involved engineers and performance specialists working on aerodynamics, conditioning and control. Prada’s photographs document wind-tunnel preparation as well as the run itself, showing the technical process behind the partnership. The collaboration places product development inside the athlete story.

The shoes and gloves are described as bespoke equipment for this project; the business relevance is the technical work and its communication through the brand’s continuing relationship with Red Bull.
