Google, a titan in the tech industry, has shown its support for this Fifteen Percent Pledge initiative by announcing finalists for grants totalling $250,000 (3rd Prize: $10,000, 2nd Prize: $15,000, 1st Prize: $200,000). These grants are part of Shop with Google‘s commitment to fostering diversity and supporting Black-owned businesses. The finalists, HanaHana Beauty, Blackstock & Weber, and Soap Distillery, represent diverse industries and exemplify the innovation and excellence found within Black-owned businesses.

The pledge is a call to action for retailers and businesses to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned brands, reflecting the approximate percentage of the Black U.S. population. This movement aims to create equitable economic opportunity and address systemic disparities in the retail space.
