15 Percent Pledge’s Achievement Awards Reveals 2024 Finalists

Google, a titan in the tech industry, has shown its support for this Fifteen Percent Pledge initiative by announcing finalists for grants totalling $250,000 (3rd Prize: $10,000, 2nd Prize: $15,000, 1st Prize: $200,000). These grants are part of Shop with Google‘s commitment to fostering diversity and supporting Black-owned businesses. The finalists, HanaHana Beauty, Blackstock & Weber, and Soap Distillery, represent diverse industries and exemplify the innovation and excellence found within Black-owned businesses.

The pledge is a call to action for retailers and businesses to dedicate 15% of their shelf space to Black-owned brands, reflecting the approximate percentage of the Black U.S. population. This movement aims to create equitable economic opportunity and address systemic disparities in the retail space.

provided high-quality, nourishing products and addressed the social and economic disparities faced by women of color.

She was inspired to create a brand that would empower these women and give back to the community, particularly by supporting the livelihoods of the women in Ghana who source the ingredients—offering a range of skincare products, including shea butter-based body balms, exfoliating scrubs, and moisturizing oils.

Their products are known for being rich in natural ingredients that are ethically sourced from the Shea Belt of Africa, ensuring both quality for users and fair compensation for the women who harvest the shea nuts.
