Arc’teryx Launches System 0 With a Hardshell Designed for Repair and Disassembly

Arc’teryx is introducing System 0, a product-design framework that connects how garments are made with how they can be repaired and eventually taken apart. Its first product, the Sperro SV hardshell, is scheduled to reach Arc’teryx stores and its website globally on September 4, 2026, according to the brand’s August 26 announcement.

The brand returned to the subject in a September 2 design video featuring design vice president Ashley Anson and chief creative officer Katie Becker. Their discussion frames circularity as a decision made before a product is sold, rather than an end-of-life service added afterward.

Material Choices Shape the Return Journey Arc’teryx says Sperro SV uses GORE-TEX Pro fabric with an ePE membrane. The nylon face fabric and backer were separately designed for recyclability with Aquafil, the producer of ECONYL regenerated nylon.

The jacket is also designed around durability, repairability and eventual disassembly. Those choices are commercially relevant because a technical garment combines materials and construction techniques that must work together in use.

A design intended to be taken apart later needs that requirement considered alongside performance, production and repair. The announcement describes the product’s design objectives and material partnerships…
