Holland America Line (HAL) is redefining luxury travel and cruise retail with the launch of the Blend Bar, the world’s first lipstick blending bar at sea. Blend Bar allows guests to create a personalized lipstick or gloss during their journey, combining beauty innovation, self-expression, and a one-of-a-kind cruise keepsake.
What Is Blend Bar? A Bespoke Lipstick Lab at Sea
The Blend Bar experience lets guests “design and take home a signature lipstick or gloss created on board at the exclusive lipstick lab. The hands-on Blend Bar experience is guided by an expert beauty consultant who will help guests create a wearable memory of their cruise vacation,” according to Holland America’s official release.
Located in the beauty section of shipboard shops, Blend Bar features a palette of more than 30 premium pigments, four luxurious finishes, and over 20 signature flavors. Guests can book individual or group appointments, making this a celebration-worthy…
or bonding experience for all ages. The blending bar is now available on ships including the Nieuw Statendam, Eurodam, Westerdam, Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, Volendam, and Zaandam, with a fleetwide rollout by mid-November.
Crafting Personalized Color: How It Works With professional guidance, guests choose colors to blend their own hue—matching an outfit, replicating a discontinued brand favorite, or simply inventing something new. Each tailored blend can be made into one of four finishes: butter, crème, matte or gloss.
Guests can elevate their custom creation with more than 20 flavors and add frost, shimmer, or iridescent effects. The formula is melted and poured into a mold or tube, named by the guest and paired with a formula card for future recreations.
The experience costs $65 for a custom lipstick or liquid matte, and $60 for a gloss, and products are vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, GMO-free, and loaded with antioxidants and SPF—meeting today’s demand for clean, responsible beauty…
