HUMAN MADE JAMSIL Turns Korean Celadon Into a Futuristic Boutique in Seoul
Inside Jamsil Lotte World Mall in Seoul, the new HUMAN MADE JAMSIL boutique brings the lifestyle brand’s world to life through a design deeply inspired by Korean celadon, one of the country’s most iconic traditional crafts. The space is wrapped in pale blue green tiles that echo the distinctive colour and subtle tonal variations of celadon ceramics, so stepping into the store feels like stepping inside a ceramic vessel. The calm jade tone sets a serene backdrop for the brand’s graphic streetwear, creating an immediate connection to Korean heritage as soon as visitors cross the threshold.
While the materials look to the past, the form is deliberately futuristic. A large celadon inspired volume rises through the full height of the store, appearing to float within the interior. Bold openings, sharply defined edges and sculptural cut outs give this volume a strong architectural presence, inviting visitors to move around and through…
it as if they were walking inside a piece of celadon. Product displays sit within and alongside these forms, turning the act of browsing into a spatial experience where furniture, walls and volumes all contribute to the narrative.
This juxtaposition traditional material reference and contemporary spatial language captures HUMAN MADE’s mantra that “The Future Is In The Past.” By anchoring the store in Korean celadon while pushing its geometry toward something sleek and forward looking, the design expresses how different moments in time can coexist in a single environment.
It also frames Nigo’s nostalgia driven streetwear in a uniquely Korean context, aligning the brand’s love of vintage cues with the country’s own craft history. As HUMAN MADE’s third store in South Korea, the Jamsil boutique strengthens the brand’s presence in one of Seoul’s busiest retail and entertainment complexes.
Situated inside Lotte World Mall, the store stands out from neighbouring spaces through its immersive jade interior and sculptural central volume, giving fans a destination that feels like a physical embodiment of the brand’s philosophy rather than just another shop.
