Is SHEIN Shutting Down?

Rumors have been swirling online that the massively popular fast fashion retailer Shein is set to close its doors for good in March 2024. Social media platforms like TikTok and Twitter (now known as X) have been abuzz with speculation, with many loyal Shein shoppers expressing their sadness and disbelief at the prospect of the brand’s demise. However, it’s important to note that these rumors are entirely unfounded and have no basis in reality.

No, Shein Is Not Closing Down Shein itself has denied the rumors, with the company’s official TikTok account posting a video in January 2024 laughing off the claims and stating it’s “business as usual.” There are no indications that Shein is actually shutting down in March 2024 or anytime in the near future.

The claims about Shein closing appear to be just rumors and part of an online hoax that has been circulating since as far back as 2020. So where did these rumors come from in the first place?

It appears that the “Shein shutting down 2024” rumor first gained traction in late 2023 and has continued to resurface periodically in the months since. Despite being repeatedly debunked, the hoax seems to have staying power, possibly due to Shein’s explosive growth and controversial reputation within the fashion industry.
