Prada Mode turns New York into a live broadcast of Nicolas Winding Refn and Hideo Kojima’s Satellites II
Prada has brought its roving cultural platform Prada Mode to New York, presenting “Satellites II” by filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and game creator Hideo Kojima as a citywide exploration of communication, language and human connection. Extending their original “Satellites” exhibition at Prada Aoyama Tokyo, the duo’s second chapter unfolded across iconic Manhattan locations, blurring the lines between private club, art installation and live broadcast.
From Prada Aoyama to a citywide sequel
“Satellites” debuted in 2025 at Prada Aoyama in Tokyo, where Refn and Kojima transformed the fifth floor into a mid century domestic set filled with retro futuristic television sets showing their filmed heads in conversation. Framed as a dialogue about love, language, technology and human connection, the installation used analog screens and nostalgic interiors to examine how two creators who don’t share a spoken language can still connect through images, sound and emotion.

Prada Mode, builds on that premise and expands it into the fabric of New York City, coinciding with the Tribeca Festival. Hotel Chelsea as central hub For the June 3–7, 2026 edition, Hotel Chelsea served as the main hub, operating as a private members’ club on June 3–4 before opening to the public June 5–7.
Inside the hotel, three rooms were converted into thematic TV studios, broadcasting live programming on a dedicated Prada Mode channel and on Prada’s website.
The lobby bar was populated with pairs of retro televisions, again showing Refn and Kojima’s faces in blue against black, looping their ongoing “conversation” in multiple languages as a way to deconstruct how we communicate beyond words.
A main stage, backed by a shimmering silver curtain and neon “Prada Mode” sign, hosted talks with the artists as well as concerts by The Velveteers, Miho Hatori, and other performers…
