Horacio Barbeito

An influential force in global retail, Horacio Barbeito has steered leading brands through periods of transformation and growth, culminating in his current role at the helm of Old Navy. Horacio “Haio” Barbeito stands as one of the most accomplished retail executives of his generation, now serving as President and CEO of Old Navy, the largest brand at Gap Inc.’s American portfolio. Since August 2022, his leadership has driven Old Navy through nine consecutive quarters of market share gains.

Early Career and Educational Foundation Born in Argentina, Barbeito’s career began at Deutsche Bank (1991–1995) as a Risk Analyst in Corporate Banking. He holds a management degree from Universidad Catolica Argentina and completed executive education at Harvard Business School, Wharton School, and London Business School.

Barbeito’s robust academic background, combined with his financial expertise and global retail experience, has consistently empowered him to lead diverse teams, navigate complex challenges, and implement strategic solutions for sustained business growth worldwide.

26-Year Walmart Legacy Barbeito’s expertise in retail was shaped during a 26-year tenure at Walmart. He started as a trainee buyer in 1995 and advanced to senior leadership across multiple international markets.

He worked as Director of Replenishment Argentina (1995–2001) before becoming Global Replenishment Director for Walmart International (2002–2005), managing operations from Bentonville, Arkansas…
