The RealReal is stepping beyond the resale rack. The luxury consignment platform has announced presales for its debut book, Real Style: Dressing with Intention & Expressing Yourself Through Style, set to hit shelves on October 20, 2026, and it reads less like a shopping guide and more like a mirror. Written by The RealReal‘s Chief Brand Officer Kristen Naiman, alongside writers Cait Munro and Sarah Leon, and designed by Arsh Raziuddin, the book features contributions from cultural voices including Kim HastreiterRachel Tashjian, and Janicza Bravo. Rather than prescribing what to buy or wear, the book challenges readers to tune out the noise of microtrends and social media and tune into their own voice, asking not what’s in style, but what feels like you.

Getting to Know Your “Good Voice”

At the heart of Real Style is an introspective exercise: readers are guided to explore their “Good Voice” versus their “Bad Voice”, essentially the inner critic that echoes fashion’s external pressures versus the authentic instinct that drives genuine self-expression. Through thought-provoking essays and interactive prompts, the book pushes readers to interrogate their own creative instincts rather than follow someone else’s rulebook. It’s a format designed to be revisited, not just read once.

Style as a Practice, Not a Purchase

The book firmly positions style as an ongoing practice rather than a destination, a philosophy deeply aligned with The RealReal‘s resale model, which encourages extending the life of garments rather than chasing the next new thing. The premise is simple but radical in a world of fast fashion and algorithm-driven wardrobes: dressing well starts with self-knowledge. The book doesn’t tell you what’s trending, it helps you figure out what’s you.

The launch of Real Style is part of a broader brand storytelling push by The RealReal in 2026. In April, the company debuted Real Talk, a five-part podcast series hosted by Naiman that features tastemakers and cultural voices discussing how personal style has shaped their identities, with new episodes dropping weekly on Wednesdays on Apple and Spotify. Together, the podcast and book signal that The RealReal is building a lifestyle brand with intellectual and cultural depth, not just a place to flip a Chanel bag.
