David Protein Faces Class Action Over Misleading Nutritional Claims

The brand built its entire identity around an extraordinary nutritional claim: 28 grams of protein, 150 calories, and 0 grams of sugar per bar, marketed as one of the highest protein to calorie ratios available. That promise is now at the center of a legal dispute.

What the Plaintiffs Are Claiming Lead plaintiff Daniella Lopez, joined by David Freifeld and Crystal Paterson, alleges that independent lab testing using the Atwater factors method, a widely accepted method for calculating food energy, found the bars contain between 268 and 275 calories, up to 83% more than the labeled 150 calories.

Fat content tells an even starker story. The lab results reportedly found fat ranging from 11.8 to 13.5 grams per bar, compared to the 2 grams stated on the label, representing up to 400% more fat than advertised.
