Stone Island’s New Rome Store Turns a Traditional Palazzo Into a Hyperblock Driven Community Space

Stone Island has opened a new store on Via del Babuino in Rome, conceived as a place where architecture, product and community converge inside a historic palazzo. The space introduces a new spatial language that balances innovation with respect for the building’s original fabric, continuing the brand’s collaboration with OMA/AMO on its global store concept.

At the heart of the project is the Hyperblock, a sculptural intervention developed to unify the fragmented layout of the palazzo into a continuous retail experience. Carved from cork and treated to emphasise its texture, the Hyperblock threads through the interior, acting as a connective spine that links rooms, levels and sightlines. It creates a clear spatial hierarchy while still allowing the building’s layered history to remain visible.
