Balmain Opens a 180 Square Metre Shanghai Boutique for Antonin Tron’s New Era

Located within one of Shanghai’s leading luxury retail destinations, the new boutique gives Balmain a high-profile setting to present its evolving identity. The store is part of the House’s continued investment in the Chinese market and provides a new home for its collections in the city’s Nanjing West Road luxury district.

A New Architectural Language The boutique was developed with Andrea Faraguna, the Berlin-based architect behind the scenography for Balmain’s Fall Winter 2026 runway show. The store takes visual cues from that debut presentation, translating its signature curtain motif into a permanent architectural element.

The curtain concept gives the boutique a sense of movement and theatrical depth. It creates a direct link between the runway and retail space, allowing customers to experience key aspects of Tron’s creative vision outside the fashion show setting.

Exposed concrete, sculptural reliefs and mirrors create a material palette that feels raw, reflective and modern.
