Charlotte Tilbury has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the King’s Birthday Honours 2026 for services to the beauty and cosmetics industry, recognising her role in building what is described as Britain’s most successful global beauty brand. The honour comes just over a decade after she launched Charlotte Tilbury Beauty in 2013 and eight years after receiving an MBE in 2018.
Recognising a defining force in UK beauty
The citation highlights Charlotte’s contribution to the rapid growth of the UK beauty sector, which has expanded from about £17 billion in 2013 to over £31 billion today, with beauty now outperforming sectors such as sport, publishing and recreation in its direct contribution to UK GDP. Under her leadership, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty has become a global category leader, operating across 57 markets, with over 5,500 distribution points worldwide and a team of more than 3,000…
employees. The brand is described as the UK’s number one prestige makeup brand, with a social audience exceeding 20 million, and a portfolio that includes globally recognised franchises such as Pillow Talk and Airbrush.
Building Britain’s biggest beauty brand Launched in 2013, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty has grown from a disruptive start-up into what the release calls “the largest British-born global beauty business ever”, valued at over £1 billion when Charlotte led a strategic partnership with Puig in 2020.
Today, the business operates across colour, complexion, skincare and fragrance, with more than 5,500 points of sale and a strong omnichannel presence spanning its own e-commerce, app and retail partners.
The honour also reflects Charlotte’s role in “revolutionising” packaging, ergonomics, education, counter design, retail theatre and beauty language, as well as her early adoption of digital and AI‑powered personalisation to deliver 360‑degree customer experiences at scale…
