FENDI made Milano Design Week 2026 its canvas, unveiling 20 re editions of the iconic Baguette at Palazzo FENDI Milano in a celebration of personality as the greatest and freest expression of beauty.
Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Archival Vision
The Baguette 26424 Re Editions are presented as part of the Fall/Winter 2026 27 collection, marking one of the most significant milestones in Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri‘s debut chapter at FENDI. Chiuri, who officially took the helm at the Rome based maison in 2026 following the tenure of Kim Jones, brought an approach anchored in the archive, the Fendi sisters’ legacy, and a deep belief in the cultural power of women’s creativity and self expression. The choice to center her Milano Design Week moment on the Baguette is both a respectful nod to FENDI‘s most iconic bag and a bold statement about how craft, personality, and femininity intersect.
20 Iterations of an Icon
The 20 re editions draw from some of the Baguette’s most celebrated archive moments, each reimagined through irreverent tonalities and extraordinary artisanal techniques. Embroidered mirrored sequins, paillettes, beading, and lustrini are deployed as authentic forms of expression in the hands of master craftspeople who command techniques spanning Aari to Zardozi embroidery, ancient traditions rooted in South Asian and Middle Eastern artisanal cultures. One particularly notable re edition, first presented for the Spring/Summer 1999 collection, features hand embroidered mirror tiles, a piece so historically significant that one example is currently exhibited at the Palais Galliera in Paris. A softer re edition, inspired by the very first version of the Baguette, features elongated handles, designed not to constrain the body but to complement its movements and desires.
Presented at Palazzo FENDI Milano
All 20 iterations were presented at Palazzo FENDI Milano in a dedicated installation, accompanied by limited edition packaging conceived specifically for the occasion. The campaign imagery was captured by photographer Jo Ann Callis, whose evocative visual language communicates a single powerful message: every woman can be what she wants, and the Baguette is there to carry that conviction. FENDI Casa also activated at Milano Design Week 2026 with a dedicated showroom experience at its Palazzo FENDI address, reinforcing the maison’s commitment to Milan as a central stage for both fashion and design culture.
The Baguette 26424 Re Editions are available now at FENDI, with select styles already listed as sold out, reflecting the immediate appetite from collectors and fans alike.
