Johana Hernandez, a talented Haute Couture fashion designer, has come a long way from her humble beginnings in Compton, where she was born and raised. Growing up, she watched her Salvadoran immigrant parents work tirelessly in Los Angeles’ garment factories, sewing for renowned brands such as Guess, Calvin Klein, and Gap.
After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Hernandez launched her own brand, Glaudi, which was inspired by her Latino roots. The brand quickly gained success, making her the first Salvadorian designer to showcase her work at Paris Fashion Week. Today, Hernandez owns a boutique in the heart of Beverly Hills, where she is one of the youngest Latina business owners in the area.
Hernandez’s journey has been marked by hard work and determination, earning her a spot among the greats in the fashion world. Tennis superstar Serena Williams, who also hails from Compton, is among the celebrities who sport her designs. Hernandez’s accomplishments serve as an inspiration to others, proving that with dedication and perseverance, anyone can achieve their dreams.
Hernandez’s recently showcase GLAUDI line at LA Fashion Week on March 25th, 2023. The GLAUDI fashion show, presented by Johana Hernandez and City National Bank, is titled “Dreams Do Come True.” The event will take place at the beautiful and tranquil Beverly Cañon Gardens, located in the 200 block of North Cañon Drive in Beverly Hills, California. This 33,000 square feet public garden features outdoor dining areas, water features, landscaped gardens, and public colonnaded walkways connecting Beverly and Cañon Drives.
Beverly Cañon Gardens is also known for its popular “Concerts on Cañon” series, which takes place throughout the summer. This free series of live performances under the stars features various kinds of music, from jazz to classic standards and popular local bands. In honor of Women’s History Month, the Role Models Panel will feature successful women sharing their personal stories while wearing Power Suits by GLAUDI. Panelists include the Mayor of Beverly Hills, among other influential figures.
In addition to her successful fashion line, Hernandez is committed to using her platform for good. She has created a culture of respect for her dressmakers, educates children in El Salvador through her dress sales, and mentors young women in the Southland. Furthermore, she has launched a men’s line in honor of her late father, who taught her the importance of making people feel good.
Johana Hernandez’s story is a testament to the power of hard work and determination. As the owner of GLAUDI Beverly Hills, she has not only made a name for herself in the fashion industry but has also become a role model for aspiring Latin designers and entrepreneurs alike.
