I have 15 years of experience in the retail industry…
The pastry chef and founder of Mary Alice Cakes, Marla Pruitte grew up in a family of exceptional cooks and bakers, and family has has always been important to her. “We never had a family meal without desserts. My great, great aunt Mary Alice Sain was the matriarch of our family and was well- known for her baking, I even used some of her recipes in my bakery,” said Pruitte.
Inspired by her great aunt, and having owned her own bakery before, she was no stranger to making great cake. Years later after closing shop, she hadn’t lost her love for making people happy with cake. “In 2020, smack dab in the middle of a pandemic, and after losing everything the year prior, I knew it was time to create magic again. So with $0 dollars in the bank, I raised the money to create and launch what is now Mary Alice Cakes, the first full-line of cakes mixes that is 100% woman-owned.” said Pruitte.
A very short nine months later, Marla found her cake mix on retail shelves, including Target & Food Lion! You can also pre-order her book ‘The Shelf Formula’ by Marla Pruitte for aspiring food creators, available now.
