On Expands to Denmark with First Copenhagen Flagship Store in Old Town
Købmagergade 39 in Copenhagen, Onhas opened a new flagship that brings the brand’s performance mindset into one of the city’s most historic retail districts. Located in Indre By, Copenhagen’s Old Town and central inner city neighbourhood, the store sits on the same street as the Round Tower, creating an immediate connection between a global sportswear brand and one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
The new location is more than a place to buy shoes and apparel. Spanning two floors and 350 square metres, the store has been designed as an expression of Copenhagen itself. The interior uses a contrast of heritage and modernity, pairing materials that feel raw and architectural with elements that bring warmth and local character. Red metal cladding references Denmark’s visual identity and contemporary design language, while concrete, grey stucco and oak create a tactile material palette that feels calm, precise and distinctly Nordic.

Round Tower is a key source of inspiration for the store. Built in the 17th century, the landmark is known for its continuous spiralling ramp, which carries visitors gradually upward through the building.
On translates that feeling of movement and flow into the retail experience, using the store’s two levels to create a journey rather than a simple sequence of product displays. The design encourages visitors to move through the space at their own pace, discovering new categories, collections and stories as they go.
This approach reflects how On is evolving its retail footprint around the world. The brand is known for performance running shoes developed in the Swiss Alps, but its stores increasingly present a fuller lifestyle and sportswear proposition.
